Transfer Virgin Mobile number to another (new) contract.

As per subject title is it possible to transfer my existing phone number to a new contract?

We couldnt get the deal we wanted over the telephone with Virgin, so cancelled the existing contract and signed up for another. I would now like to port the existing number to the new contract (i got a PAC code when cancelling the existing).

A quick call to Virgin customer service, and they have told me its not possible. I dont understand this though, as i could take the number to another provider (o2, EE etc.), why cant i transfer it to a new virgin contract?

Thanks in advance

Re: Transfer Virgin Mobile number to another (new) contract.

Hi parxuk,

unfortunately as jb66 says, the only way is to transfer to another provider then back again to Virgin

1. Call 789 & request a PAC code for your number (the one you wish to use).

2. Port your number out to another network (cheapest(free)/easiest available SIM from any other network).

3. Once completed, request a PAC code from your new provider then port your number back to Virgin on to your new SIM card.

Thanks for the replies.

Seems absolutely crazy, but there you go.

So can i just get a free sim from another provier, put a couple of quid on it, register number then leave, get pac code and back to Virgin?

Re: Transfer Virgin Mobile number to another (new) contract.

Hi parxuk,

yes, that's correct as per my answer (or to save a little time you could buy another SIM for less than £1 at most shops).

I know with Three Mobile you can do everything (PAC) online and you might even get away without topping up. If you do have to, I think you can choose from as little as £2 with them.

Let us know how it goes for you Smiley Happy
