Terrible Reception and Delayed Text Messages

Hi,

Since upgrading my SIM to 4G, I now barely have any signal in my home.  Are signal boosters available ?

Also, I am receiving delayed text messages.  I received an MMS yesterday that was sent on 16th December!!  Also other text messages from the same number are sometimes taking days to come through or if I send a message sometimes they are not receiving it.  The sender/receiver of the messages is also a VM customer.!!

Is your phone holding on to a weak 4G signal. What happens when you change network mode to exclude 4g (LTE)

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your signal since switching over to 4G. As enlli suggests, there may be an issue with 4G coverage locally so switching the phone's network mode over to 3G and 2G may improve the signal whilst we look into this. 

 

Can I ask if this mainly happens at home or does it also happen when you are out and about? When you do a network search on the phone does Virgin come up?

I am having the same problem.

My wife sent a message to me last night and even though I had full signal the whole time I did not receive messages until this morning when I went out.

I don't think it's a signal strength problem around my house since I was on ee before and had no problems with them....and i have constant max 4g signal when at home.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Community Forum and thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your signal at your home. Apologies as well for the time it's taken to respond to your post. Has this been sorted out for you since your post? 

 

Please try the following:

  • Please check your area on the following coverage checkers to see if a problem has been reported on the network:  Virgin Mobile Coverage Checker & EE Network Status Checker

  • Manually search and select the network (try coming off the Virgin network and reconnecting)
  • Is the handset still showing 2G/3G/4G?
  • Do you have the same issue if you put the SIM in a different handset?
  • Do you have the issue in other areas?
  • Have you tried a replacement SIM card since experiencing this issue?
