Sony Xperia Z5

Hello.

I have recently received my new Sony Xperia Z5 and do on occasion need to use a O2 sim card, however under 'preferred network type' there is no option to select 4G. Does anyone know if this is something that Virgin disable as they do not currently provide a 4G service ?

Thank you in anticipation of your replies.

Re: Sony Xperia Z5

Hi

No

I got similar issues, see the m4 below.

You might also have a problem with taking your phone to a new provider.

on your phone....

settings > more > mobile networks > preferred network type.

Do you have the 4G option listed there?

I don't have on my phone but as yet I have had no response to my post despite putting it up before others that got answeres.

If you don't have it there, then despite when you get your phone unlocked, you can put a sim in for a different network but it wont connect to 4G since the option is not there....

Re: Sony Xperia Z5

Thank you for your reply.

Phone was brought from Virgin Mobile and seems to be unlocked as it will accept any sim card from all UK networks.

Under Preferred Network Type there is no 4G option at all. Seems a shame as I would really like to use the full capability of the phone.

I have tried reflashing the phone software via the Sony desktop app, however this has made no difference.

Re: Sony Xperia Z5

have you tried using emma?

http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/use-the-flash-tool-for-xperia-devices/

look like there is no option for my phone but is for yours...

ok and you do this at your own risk

tbh virgin should give us a way to get 4g if we have an unlocked phone....

with out having to pay £40 to sony

or to risk third party at xda

Re: Sony Xperia Z5

Hi thescimitar,

Welcome to the forums Smiley Happy

I'm really sorry that you're unable to access 4G on the phone. I'm afraid on Virgin Mobile handsets, this feature will be disabled.

I wouldn't advise modifying your software as this will void the warranty on the phone.

I'm sorry I couldn't help more with this.

Let me know if you have any other queries.

Thanks,

Mat
