Sim only (30day rolling)

Can someone please help me with this.
I have 2 sim only sims currently paying £8. I wish to upgrade both to the new £10 double data sims. I spoke to virgin who told me I couldn't do this and is only for new 24month contracts with handsets. I also done the live chat with virgin who also said I can't do it. I came into work this morning to be told by 2 friends who said they both upgraded their sims to this deal!!! Why can't I???? (Would like virgin to answers this one as well)

It seems that it's just a case of perseverance and try the sales team direct on freephone 0800 052 0422
