Signal keeps droping, have to reboot phone for signal.

I switched over to Virgin Mobile last month and ive had issues ever since.

The signal keeps dropping off completely after a period of time, this can be ten minutes or two hours. The only way i can get signal back is by restarting my phone. I get no data and no signal for messaging or phone calls 9messages return failed and cant make any calls)despite having bars on my phone. I never had this issue with my previous privider and it is the same phone, a samsung galaxy note 2.

Ive tried all sorts of common fixes, i wondered if anyone else has this issue.

Re: Signal keeps droping, have to reboot phone for signal.

Hi, since the last post i've had a new sim and that has not fixed the issue, ive tried soft reset and apparently Virgin tech guys have reset the network setting their end (not sure what this is but he said he was going to do it). Also tried switching to 2g only as tech guys suggested, this did work as i had constant 2g signal for the 24 hours i tried it, no drop outs but no data too.

I not too impressed though as twice now ive waited for a Virgin tech guy to call back at different times but they have never rang.

Im trying now with no sd card in phone as ive read that can cause problems.

Next step will be full factory restore as ive just backed up.

Then last step is leave Virgin, thankfully im only on a 30 day contract.

Re: Signal keeps droping, have to reboot phone for signal.

Thanks for your reply leroy233,

Sorry to hear this is still not sorted Smiley Sad

So we can pinpoint this issue, are you able to try your new sim in another phone to see if this issue repeats itself?

We want to rule the phone out as causing the issue.

Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Signal keeps droping, have to reboot phone for signal.

Hi. I did a factory reset last Thursday. It didn't drop out at all until Monday. I was back in the same postcode I have the most problems with. At work. At home I'm using wife and always have 2g and 3g signal. So a factory reset has not fixed the issue. Tomorrow I will use the newer sim in a different phone and see if that has any issues.

Re: Signal keeps droping, have to reboot phone for signal.

I tried the sim  in another phone all day and it hasnt dropped out at all. So it looks like a problem with my phone, is there any other suggestions i could try before i get a new phone. I was hoping to hang on until the note 5 is released in uk.

I was thinking about trying another network sim in my phone to see if that works just to total point to the phone problem or sim problem.
