Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

I’ve got a new Motorola Moto G and had my number ported across to Virgin Mobile.

I’m trying to set up divert to voicemail on no answer and when busy.  I also want to change the length of time before it diverts.  I’ve hunted round and found this thread: http://bit.ly/1T69uGV.  However I don’t know what the code (like 44004) is that I should use; I don’t get a text about it when I go into Voicemail.   When I try one of the strings given in the thread I get: ““connection problem or invalid mmi code”.

I’ve found other threads that tell me to type in *#67# to get the right MMI number.  However when I do that it says “MMI Started” and I then get an onscreen message saying:

Call forwarding

Voice: not forwarded

Data: not forwarded

Fax: not forwarded

[Etc.]

I’ve called Virgin Mobile, as suggested in a couple of threads.  I’m not sure if the woman really knew what I was talking about, but after a period she ‘reset’ my voicemail, but it made no difference.

Can anyone help?

Jedzi

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi Jedzi,

I think your only option then is to call the Virgin mobile team again on 789 and ask them again to reset your voicemail (a pain, I know but.. Smiley Frustrated )

Once they have done this, run through the procedure from the start: How do I set up voicemail

Good luck Smiley Wink

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi Jedzi,

first of all you need to activate your voicemail.

Call 222, listen to the message & follow the prompts (I think you have to press1).

Wait about 20 minutes, turn your phone off then on again and your Voicemail should be active Smiley Happy

Now that it is you can alter the ring time:

Tap *#67# into your phone and press call.

Make a note of the number that's displayed, including the + symbol (this is your Voicemail number now that it's active you'll see it).

Enter the following code **61* Voicemail number**number of seconds you want it to ring#

You can choose from 5 seconds ring to 30 seconds (maximum) in multiples of 5

e.g: **61*+440011123456789**25# (25 denotes 25 seconds)

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi there,

Many thanks for the reply.  I've already been into Voicemail and set-up a PIN and a greeting.  Is there anything else we need to to?  I've checked again, but there are no obvious options to take

As below, if I key in *#67# I don't get a code, but a message telling me that a bunch of things aren't forwarded, eg:

Call forwarding

Voice: not forwarded

Data: not forwarded

Fax: not forwarded

[Etc.]

Regards,

Jedzi

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi Jedzi,

it's not activated (*#61# would also show your number).

Did you wait 20 minutes, then turn your phone off & on?

If you look at your account on line, go to "Manage your services" is voicemail on or off? (Obviously if it's off, turn it on).

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi there,

Thanks again.

Yep - I've turned it on & off a couple of times, but no difference.

I've been online and it says that Voicemail is On.

I've also been back in to 222 and but couldn't find an option to activate it.  There were options to record a personal greeting.  The greeting that is there, however it's the original greeting that I recorded before I called Virgin & asked them to reset my voicemail.  I don't know if that means that they didn't reset it.

Re: Setting-up Voicemail Diverts

Hi there,

You were right.  The previous reset hadn't worked.

No idea why, but I called back again and the person this time seemed to have a better understanding of what I was asking for & he did the reset straight away.

Voicemail is now working fine.

Many thanks!

Jedzi
