Samsung S6 and Tri Band

Help please,

Going on a Baltic cruise shortly and cruise info says to use mobile phone it must be Tri or Quad Band due to Satellite reception on Board. Visiting Denmark, Finland, Russia, Latvia and Norway.

Will my fairly new Samsung S6 cope with this ok ???

Hi walmoxxx,

I'm sure your phone will be fine Smiley Happy

As you say "fairly new" are you a new Virgin pay monthly customer?
It's necessary to have made three payments (three months) before roaming can be active on your account or you may be asked for a £50 deposit.

I would recommend that you call customer services on 789 before you leave the UK and check that roaming is active for calls and mobile data (you can then disable data on your device when not required) and that international call barring is off in your Virgin account.

If you are using the satellite connection on board check that Virgin have a roaming agreement with the company used. It appears they do not have an agreement with all as there was a post on here about a month back

Re: Samsung S6 & Tri Band

Thanks AlexKid

I've been a customer for a few years so that should be ok, I will however phone customer services to make sure the other items are done.

My main concern was that the phone could handle "Tri or Quad Band"

Re: Samsung S6 & Tri Band

Thanks enlli

The cruise operator's charges for onboard WiFi are slightly cost prohibitive but it will still be good to keep in touch.
