I have an unlocked iPhone 5s, however when I have just put in my new Virgin SIM I get 'SIM Not Supported'

Any ideas please?

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

cannot help on that other than say on 2 iphones i got unlocked by O2 it was a matter of

1 - asking them to do it

2 - waiting for an email/text to confirm it had happened

3 - putting new/other sim in and it worked

have read what you posted and i think thats just a catch all instruction - i dont think you will need to do any of that

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

that would suggest it is not unlocked - what other sims have you tried in it

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

Giff Gaff and EE. I have just been on Live Chat with O2 and they have guaranteed me the issue is not with them as the phone is unlocked.

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

Virgin use the EE network - not sure who GiffGaff use but that should be irrelevant - if an EE sim works then a VM one should - if you have access to another VM sim try that

a call to CS would seem the next step to get the VM sim replaced

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

Sorry not sure if I made it clear, but the EE or Virgim sim will not work.

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

ahhh i see - i come back to my original point then and question if the phone is unlocked

what network was the phone on - have you had it [theoretically] unlocked - if so by who

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

Finally got O2 to admit they were at fault and the phone isn't unlocked. They are in the process of doing this, however they have said I have to do the following:

  1. iTunes via USB - place the other networks SIM into the iPhone/iPad and connect to iTunes via USB
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the unlatch.
  3. You must be signed into the iTunes account which was used to activate the handset otherwise the unlatching process won't work.
  4. SIM lock may hinder the unlatching process. You may need to remove the SIM lock prior to connecting to iTunes.

Any idea how to do number 4?

Re: SIM Not Supported on an Unlocked iPhone

As GiffGaff and O2 are the same network it certainly looks like a phone lock problem.

AFAIK iPhones lock to the first network used unless bought direct from Apple
