every number I call I'm told that the call is not possible.

If you've now got a signal ok but are unable to make calls, it would be worth checking that "International call barring" is set to OFF in your online account.

since you altered your roaming setting on your account have you turned your phone off & on again?
If you still can't make calls, perhaps you could use another phone to give Virgin mobile UK support line a call on +447953 967 967Hopefully they'll be able to sort you out.

have switched phone off several times and no other phone to phone Virgin.
