Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

I have just been charged to receive 2 picture messages. I have not been charged for previously receiving these. Can I assume that before, I received the picture via Wifi at home and hence not charged and recently, I must have received the message via 3G outside of my Wifi area and hence charged.

Is this the case or is this just an error on Virgins system.

Re: Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

Finally got through.

The answer was simple. I had been charged, not for receiving a picture message, but for sending a picture message.

This was the first time I had sent my daughters a picture message. I thought they were included in the call package.

They were not. Cost me 40p each, as per charges in my tariff.

Will not use this option again, as simpler to just upload on either Twitter of Facebook and let my kids see the picture that way. Doing it this way also costs nothing.

I can see picture messages will die a death over the years.

Also to make clear, as pointed out by other members, I was NOT charged for the call to customer service, when I dialled 789 from my Virgin Mobile phone.

Did you receive them while abroad?

No. They were sent by my 2 daughters from the same town. Distance would have been about 2 miles each one.

Re: Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

Hi Ibattison,

Welcome to the forums Smiley Happy

That's rather odd!

Are you able to let me know if you're on Pay as you Go or Pay Monthly?

Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

I am on a simple pay monthly, with 500Mb allowance per month, of which I normally use about 250Mb.

Do I need to phone customer service, which of course costs me to do so?

Re: Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

Hi ibattison,

The team on the phone can make sure this is looked into for you.

You wouldn't be charged for calling the team if you dial 789 from your Virgin Mobile.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Picture Message via 3G or via Wifi

Just tried calling them from my mobile. Said I would be waiting about 15 mins to get through. Will try later. I have also be advised that I WILL be charged to call 789 from my mobile. Can you confirm if this is correct or not. Will try again later today, to see if I get a swifter response.
