Why can I not phone the Isle of Man from my UK mobile while I am in the UK?
789 customer support says it is because the IOM is overseas - but it has a 44 country code so is therefore in the UK. And anyway, I have International Calls and Roaming enabled.
789 customer support also says the IOM is one of the Channel Isles so is therefore an EU number. It is neither an EU number (remember the 44 country code) nor one of the Channel Isles - it's 300 miles from the English Channel!!
My wife's phone (also from Virgin) can phone the IOM without problems - and we have the same settings.
I am confused - and about to become an ex-customer.
It is classed as international so you will need to switch off international call barring on your account. Confusing, I know.
The Isle of Man is located in the Irish Sea between Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. The island is not part of the United Kingdom or European Union, but is a possession of the British Crown with an independent administration. Its inhabitants are British citizens.
