Personal Unblocking Key

Received a new Virgin mobile SIM for and put it in but the the phone isn't accepting the personal unblocking key:

 

Phone: Xperia (S i think)

Network: 3

 

Any help please?

Is your phone network unlocked?

I thought that was what the unblocking key was for.

Nope - that's for unlocking your phone in the event that (for example) you put the wrong PIN in.

 

If you're trying to get a handset from another network unlocked so it will work with your Virgin SIM, you'll have to ring the other network provider and pay for an unlock code. If need a handset that's locked to Virgin to work on another network, you'll need to ring Virgin and pay £15.32 for it to be unlocked.
