PDP Authentication failure

In the past hour I have started received an error message stating "could not activate mobile data network - PDP authentication failure".  I have no internet or data services.  Is this a virgin issue.  I have tried restarting my phone, resetting the network and doing a hard reset (iphone).  Help anyone?
