Over charges on mobile

I have a virgin mobile phone and every month I get over charged for data when I don't use all my monthly data. I have called a number of times and been told update to apps is the problem (I don't use apps). Last time I called I was told the my data would increase to stop any further problems. A month later and yet again over charge. I two contracts with virgin and thinking of cancelling both. Can anyone advise what I can do? When I call I get fobbed off all the time.

Re: Over charges on mobile

Hi Pwhe,

you may not use any apps but if you have a smartphone it will have them and you need to make sure that it doesn't auto-update using mobile data.

My phone is Android and for this, I go to "Google Play Store" > touch the three little lines > Settings > Auto-update apps > set it to "do not" or "over WiFi only".

Re: Over charges on mobile

Hi Alex

thanks for this but mines a iPhone 5s.

I still don't understand how if I have loads of data, I still get charged.I actually turn on my mobile data only when I want to use it then turn off when finished.  I mainly use my home wifi.

Just thinking of cancelling/buying out contract as not willing to being charged more than double my tariff every month

Thanks again

Hi icecoldme,

possibly.... The charge for out of tariff use is £2 per day (for unlimited use) but even if you only use a few KB you're still going to be charged the £2.

So 27 days out of tariff use, even though you haven't used much data will still amount to £54.
