Out of Contract - will my tariff change

Hi,

My Starter tariff (£10pm) is due to expire shortly and is already showing two things:

1. I'm due for an upgrade (which I don't want to do as I'm perfectly happy with the phone I've got)

2. I'm out of contract - which strictly speaking isn't true because I was on a 2 year contract which runs to April.

The question I'm posing is will my tariff automatically reduce when the two year period is up given that the amount I'm paying comprises the phone purchase and the tariff fee - I'm assuming it should reduce to a SIM only tariff @ £5 per month

Hi daveatcastlerig,

NO, your tariff won't change automatically when your contract period is up.

You need to give the Virgin mobile team a call on 789, 30 days before your expiry date & request a change.

If you're going to go Sim only there may be better deals out there which include 4G, I'm seriously considering GiffGaff.

Virgins deals are not that good anymore imho.

If you are keeping your phone your could move to a SIM only deal, either 12 month contract or 30 day rolling.

Have a look on the website and see if there is a deal that is attractive to you

Re: Out of Contract - will my tariff change

Thanks for the reply.

Shame that Virgin can't take the initiative though and automatically reduce my tariff. It would show them as putting the customers interests first rather than their own.

I'm almost tempted to cancel when my contract expires and shop around for a best PAYG deal as I very rarely utilise my current monthly airtime allowance.

If you use your phone little consider 3's 321 tariff.

Calls 3p per minute

Text 2p

Data 1p per MB

Best is credit does not expire
