Old Phone\SIM not registering on Network

Hi All,

I have an old Samsung PAYG GT-C3630 which I got for free when Virgin Mobile used to give out rewards.  It has a PAYG Virgin SIM in it and I kept it as an emergency phone in the boot of the car.  I haven't turned it on for sometime now - Today I have charged it and turned it on for the first time in over a year, but it seems it cant register on the network as I cannot even dial out to 789, without it saying emergency calls only.

Do I need to get a new SIM if I wanted to start using this phone again?  Or will the one which is currently inserted eventually register?  Or can I get this one registered again?

Cheers in advance!

Re: Old Phone\SIM not registering on Network

Hi Tickorama

Thanks for your post - sorry to hear about your SIM card.

Our Pay As You Go SIM cards will deactivate if they are not used for a long period of time, so we recommend that you make a chargeable call or text on the device at least every couple of months to keep everything active.

Don't worry though, we'll get you a new SIM sent out free of charge (although this SIM may have a new number), just give the team a call on 0345 600 0789  and we'll be happy to help Smiley Happy

Let us know how you get on with it.

Many thanks

Re: Old Phone\SIM not registering on Network

Hi Taichiman,

It can indeed take up to 24 hours for the sim to register.

Are you able to let me know how you're looking currently?

Thanks,

Mat
