Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

I got a strange text not long ago claiming to be from "Virgin".

"Your voicemail number is updated. If you receive this message again store [Removed] in your contacts and dial direct to access voicemail."

This looks very dodgy to me - does anyone know if this is real, or some kind of attempt to get my voicemail login details ?

(assuming you have to login, I've never used it).

Re: Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

I got some text's like that a couple of years ago, if I remember right, they were after setting up and changing the time length before voicemail kicks in. I just ignored them as the voicemail was working perfectly by pressing the 1 key.

Further to Teabag's answer - you might want to edit your message so your viocemail number isn't on display to the world.

Re: Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

I have no idea what that number is, but I doubt its genuine, and not mine.

Are you seriously telling me every single person has their own unique voicemail number ?

Surely voicemail is a common number that everyone uses, and public knowledge ?

All you have done now is stop other people from searching on that number if they get a similar message.

Re: Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

Are you telling me that the voicemail number that you posted is not just your mobile number with a different dial code?

Or didn't you notice?

Re: Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

It had no resemblance to my mobile number at all.

Re: Odd Text Message from Virgin ?

I'd be wary of it, then.

When I got a similar message - the new voicemail number had the same last six digits as my mobile number.

...and I just noticed the last line of your original post. You should change the PIN on your voicemail as soon as you can. Failing to take this simple step is how the News of the World managed to hack so many celebrity voicemails.
