Number change and rubbish signal

Hi There,

I've been with VM for years with no problems at all.

i recently renewed my contract with a VM from a iPhone 5s which had a great signal in our house to a iPhone 6 which also has a great signal in our house.

My new phone arrived, I took the sim from the iPhone 5s and put it into the new iPhone 6 and all was well.

I gave the iPhone 5s to my wife and she has just taken a sIm only contract with VM, and she gave VM her PAC code to keep her number.

Her sim arrived and I put it into her iPhone 5s and the signal is terrible even though I had a VM sim in the iPhone 5s for the last two years with a great signal. How can two sims be so different??

I want somebody at VM to tell me how this is possible please. If it can't be sorted I think my wife will dump the VM sim and more be to another network.

To make matters worse, the number transfer is a disaster!!

It seem to change over as they said it would the day after the sim arrived, but the following day texts my wife sent started showing as being from the new sims original number and it's still the same now.

She has spoken to support but they said it could take quite a few days, which seems strange to me.

So again can somebody from VM explain how two sims from the same network have so different signals, are these cheap sim deals in some way different from a two year contract sim?

Kindest Regards

Hylton

Re: Number change and rubbish signal

Thanks for that, it's not only us it's happened to. I'll give them a call today and demand a new sim.

I see nobody from VM has bothered to reply to this?

Re: Number change and rubbish signal

Hi Mat,

OK, the number is working ok now on both calls and text. However the signal is still very poor compared to what it was when I had a Virgin sim in it, it seems to be down 2 bars to what it was.

We have a new sim on the way to see if the sim is faulty, it can't be the phone as it was working perfectly with a virgin sim in it and nothing has changed with the phone at all.

The sim should be here tomorrow so I'll post again when we've tried it out to see if it fixes the problem.

Kindest Regards

Hylton

Re: Number change and rubbish signal

Hi Mat,
Ok my wife's replacement sim has arrived today.
The instructions are a bit confusing so would appreciate your help.
Do we just take the old sim out and fit the new sim and that's the job done?
Or do we have to leave the old sim in and send a text to activate the new sim, then remove the old sim and replace it with the now sim and job is done?

Kindest regards

Re: Number change and rubbish signal

Thanks for your reply Hylton Smiley Happy

This would depend on the type of sim that was ordered with us.

If you old sim is still working, then you will need to send us a text to activate it with the number in the sim pack.

If the sim is already off, pop it into your phone and it'll work.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Number change and rubbish signal

Hi Mat,
Yes the old sim is working and is still in my wife's iPhone.
Do we send the text before we remove the old one, then put the new sim in?
Does the new sim start working straight away?

Kindest regards
