No signal again

Varying between no signal and one of five dots. Post code GL51 3RH. This is getting so common I will be looking for an unlock code and move elsewhere when paid for iPhone.

Re: No signal again

Hi PeteH,

Thanks for taking the time to post. I'm so sorry to hear you've been getting very little to no signal lately. I appreciate the problem this presents as no one can get in touch with you.

I've checked the postcode you provided to see if there have been any mast problems in the past 72 hours. I can see these are all operation with no faults registered during that period.

I need more information to try and establish a course of action. Could you please answer the following questions:-

How many phones are at that property?

Which provider are they with?

Do all handsets have signal problems?

Do you get a better signal away from the property?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Re: No signal again

We have 3 phones, two old Vodaphone not smart but basic and one Virgin iPhone 5s. Both Voda get a reasonable signal. I only have to move to the edge of the estate on Timperley Way to get a better signal on the iPhone and it is OK at Morrisons car park just down the road. There appears to be a dead spot which does not show on the theory maps. Have reported this several times but no one investigates on the ground.

Re: No signal again

Thanks for getting back to me PeteH.

If there is a dead spot, as you mentioned, then I don't think a lot can be done about it. This is particularly evident when you only have to walk to the edge of the estate as you'd still be connected to the same mast.

If the Vodafone handsets have "reasonable" signal then this could further indicate a poor reception closer to your property. Keep in mind they operate their own masts so a difference will be seen.

Have you tried manually selecting a network? To do this follow:-

Settings > Carrier > Turn off automatic > Select Virgin

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Re: No signal again

If I switch off automatic it shows Virgin and virgin as possible networks. Both are equally bad.

Re: No signal again

Thanks for your reply PeteH Smiley Happy

I've run some checks in the area and I can see there was recently some planned work completed, but all appears to be well.

Do you get a better signal when you step directly outside your house?

Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: No signal again

No real difference outside. Can even get a difference indoors depending which way I face. I am just on a dead spot that your maps can not show because you do not actually measure signal strength but use geography to make a theoretical map.

Re: No signal again

It's a rather odd situation PeteH. I'm sorry that there's not much more that I can do on my side regarding this.

Do you know of anyone else who has similar issues?

Let me know when you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: No signal again

Still low signal but not had no signal recently. Typically one dot but for short times can be three, no idea if it is actually weak signal or capacity.
