No service abroad

Hi,

Data roaming is on! And Mg service is not working abroad!!!

Any reason why ?

is it just mobile data that is not working?

Do you have a partner network service for calls / texts?

What country are you in?

Still without service and data!

No I don't. I am just using wifi connections.

I am in Austria.

Hi Amelia,

 

when you say that "data roaming is on" are you referring to your device or account?

Both I hope Smiley Happy

Have you checked the settings in your account?

 

Log into your Virgin Mobile account then click on  the "Plan and device" tab.

Go to "Manage my services" > "Roaming" needs to be ON & "International call barring" needs to be OFF.

If they are not, make the change by moving the "switch" in your account.
(Click the other side of the rectangle box) It can take a while for a change to come in to effect.

 

You may have to go into the phone's settings and "manually search for network"

Once you manage to connect to a network if you want to use mobile data you will need to purchase an EU Travel Pass.

The phone was on but the account was off ... Never changed that before in the past! 🙈

So both are on, do you know how long it will take till I have service ?

Hi Amelia,

 

Virgin advise that any update may take upto 24 or longer from abroad to come into effect Smiley Sad

Usually though it is much sooner. I would recommend periodically turning your phone off/on to see if it finds and selects a network.

Okay thank you. I have tried the turning off and turning on.

Nothing yet but it was only about 10 hours ago.

I keep changing the settings on my account and its says changes made however, I log back and it still says off.

Still have one week abroad

so sorry for the trouble you are having over this.

I can only suggest that you use another phone to call Virgin and ask them to activate roaming for you their end.

Their UK support line number is: +447953 967 967
