According to the EE outage checker (Virgin uses EE's network) there are no known issues. However, EE will never admit to a problem if they can avoid it. What symbols have you got next to the signal bar?

I am so sorry to learn that you’re having signal issues on your Sony Xperia X, I have called and spoke to the networking team and asked them to check the postcode area that you have provided, and they have advised that your area is transmitting fine, they checked the mast and there’s no issues flagging up.
Just on the information that you have provided it is possible that either the sim card has gone, or the mobile itself is having issues. Can I just check with you have you been able to try your sim in another mobile device just to check that is indeed working?
If it isn’t we can get this changed for you. If it does work we can work out a plan together to check your phone.
