I've upgraded my pay as you go sim card to a monthly contract with Virgin mobile, I've kept the same number and entered 'ready' on the old sim.
It's been 24 hours and still no service, I tried the old sim again and that is saying no service too.
What have I done wrong?

if you sent the READY text from your old SIM and that has since deactivated. It sounds like you did everything correctly.
Activation of your new SIM should have taken place within 24 hours.
Have you been periodically turning your phone off & on (with your new SIM in) to see if it activates and joins the Virgin network.
If so but there has not yet been any response, I would advise contacting customer services.
Free call 789 using another Virgin mobile or 150 from a Virgin Media landline.
0345 6000 789 (standard rate call) from any other phone.

Thanks for your quick response, yes I've been turning the phone on and off.
