No Data Capping

A few weeks ago I inadvertently left my "Pay Monthly"  mobile with Data On
Within a few days I had used up my 500mb allowance and a few more Mb
I accept the error for which I was surcharged and additional £2.

Yesterday I purchased a new phone and even before I switched it on,  I was very aware of the Data Problem
I found that I couldnt switch Data to OFF without being connected to a Network

I inserted the SIM, logged onto the Network and allowed Virgin to update my Phone Settings
This took seconds and before I could switch the Data to OFF, I had racked up 31mb of Data

For this I was surcharged again another £2
I did all I possibly could to avoid this pitfall, but obviously I failed
Seems to me that Virgin, not having a policy of Capping Data Usage must be making a tidy profit when they surcharge for this amount over which I had no control

Annoyed would be putting it mildly

Hi bures,

 

if you did want to increase your tariff, for £8- until 5th September Virgin Mobile are offering "double data" so you would get 2GB (+ 1000 minutes & unlimited texts) : http://store.virginmedia.com/virgin-media-mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim.html

You do have an option of increasing your tarrif

And yes it is a cash cow for Virgin, it's cheaper to use date in the E U than go over in the UK

I spoke to Virgin CS and they have refunded me the £2
They did agree that £2 for 31mb when setting up a new phone was a bit excessive

Thanks to all for pointing out the Double tariff offer
I will certainly got for that option, at least its a good buffer against charges in the future

Updated my package to the new £10 @4GB package
