New sim and new phone

Hey

I have installed a brand new sim into a moto g 2nd gen. This is a new sim card for an already existing account that needs to be activated.

The instructions that were emailed through with the new sim say to either text READY to 789678 or go to the "Plan & Device" menu on the youraccount page.

The phone is in "emergency calls only" mode and will not send the text message, it is stuck on sending with no signal, I've had a wander and can not get it to get any signal. I'm guessing if it can not send the message it will not activate.

I am also not sure what to do on the "Plan & Device" section of the website. I'm not sure whether I need to register the phone against the sim as it currently show's the old phone, or how to activate the sim and where the options are within the Plan & Device section of the website.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Matt,

you need to send the text READY to 789678 from your old phone & SIM.

You should receive a text back saying the request has been successful.

Activation may take upto 24 hours.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have texted READY from the old phone and have received a message saying "unable to activate your new sim" and to give 789 a ring on the old sim.

I guess I will give them a call.

Hey Mat

Turn's out there was two phone numbers on the account, a pay as you go phone (my mothers) and a contract phone (my dads)

We wanted a new sim card for my dads phone number but were actually sent a sim card for my mothers phone number which is why we couldn't get it to authenticate.

We have since received a new sim card and it is all now working.
