I ordered a new phone yesterday morning for delivery today.
I have had no update on this, all I get it there is a problem/glitch.
How can I find out if a) its been sent out or b) how I cancel it so I can go get another contract elsewhere

unfortunately you are another victim of Virgin's "glitch"
I can only recommend that you give Virgin mobile customer services a call on 789 from a Virgin mobile if you already have one
Or 0345 6000 789 from any other phone and see if they can advise you on your order.
