I got a new mobile and bought a new Virgin sim card. I cannot remember from when, my home screen was replaced. Now it looks like this:

At the bottom, I found a lock icon with "Swipe up to unlock"
How can I stop that??

what you are seeing sound like the sort of notifications that appear on all smartphones from time to time.
I would "Swipe up to unlock" your phone, then:
If you have a WiFi connection, perform a system update as it is telling you that one is available. (It can require a fair bit of mobile data which is why I advise doing so over WiFi).
Then you could sign into Google and update Play services.
You can select / customise your prefered home screen from your phone's settings.
