Why are all my sms messages being tagged as premium texts?

I would like an explanation of why all my sms messages are showing as premium texts, and if possible I would like them reported as ordinary text messages.
What is the difference between a premium text and an ordinary text?
As see it these transactions just clog up the invoice making it more complex to check than it needs to be!
