Motorola moto e phone android update

Hi, there had been some discussion in the past about the android update from 4.4 KitKat to 5.0 lolipop for the moto e, as promised when the phone was being sold.

However, this still hasn't happened, so I was wondering when this is FINALLY going to happen.

Thanks.

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Hi Bashley,

Welcome to the forums Smiley Happy

I've not heard any news on my side regarding the Lollipop update for the Moto E. I'll raise this with my colleagues to see if we can find out.

I'll let you know when I have more info.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Hi,
Looks like it's been rolled out now, although it's made my phone pretty slow initially.

Thanks

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Hi Matt,

It seems to be running better today note that my phone has cooled down. Main issue is low internal storage for updates now, but that's not really related to the update.

Thanks,

Bashley

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

MicroSD cards are cheap now, moving your pics, videos, music and the allowable apps over should help with the internal memory shortage.

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Teabag, I already have a micro SD card but unfortunately only part of apps and no Google apps will go on it. So due to the phones low internal memory (4gb) minus OS and Google apps, and a few of mine I now have maybe 280mb which isn't enough for updates :/. Deleting apps hasn't really helped since they're mostly on SD card.

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Did not realise the Moto E only has 4gig internal, I can now understand why your struggling.

Only other thing I can think of which may get you a little back, is to delete any "cached data"
that would be: Settings > Storage > cached data (when you click it - it should ask if you want to delete it)

Re: Motorola moto e phone android update

Yeah I have to do that regularly :/ I've sorted out a big issue I had with Google play services now, but battery life is much worse than before the update still. The Google messaging app (not hangouts) made this worse, but I think I've fixed this by deleting the widget which was glitching between loading and displaying my messages. Space still isn't great, so overall I would recommend not updating because KitKat worked so well with the moto e, but equally I don't regret it to much as Ive wanted lolipop for a while!
