Mobile use abroad

I am on holiday abroad at the moment.

I set up my phone via 789 to work abroad before I left but it will not now work at all - no messages, phone calls, wifi etc.

I can't check my account online as I did not set it up before leaving and to set it up now I need to verify I am me by seeing the text message sent by virgin - which I can't  because I can't receive messages!

I can't call anyone, as my phone doesn't work, and am using my iPad on wifi to do this. 

Can anyone help? Please.
