Mobile phone signal

I've been having problems receiving texts since 8th January 2016 - some get through, others don’t. However today (19th January), I find I have no signal at all. It started last night at around 10pm when the red 'no signal' light started to flash. I know I can phone customer services (150 and the 0345 number) but it's a bit tricky without a phone! I'm in Sussex - does anyone know what's going on please and how long it will take to fix? It's been fairly cold here but there's been no rain lately and we're snow free... unless it's just 'the wrong type of cold' that's caused the problem! Twice in six months now :-(
