Hi AndyGa,

perhaps you "asked for it" without realising? - Clicking on a "bad" link or not checking a box somewhere on a web page.

Unless a genuine fraud. Premium texts are a subscription based service, providing some sort of content such as news, games, competitions etc.

Texting back "STOP" or  “STOP ALL” (to the short number) should end the service.

Entering the number into EE's Third Party Services Checker provides you with contact details for the company:

Short code number:65013
Service description:Interactive Service
Contact details:0208 243 8562 or support@canibethewinner.com

This service is provided by New Level Ventures and managed by mGage.

You could contact them directly to request a refund.

Or try this site: Phone-paid Services Authority. They are the UK regulator for premium rate services.

That's a premium rate scam number, normally it's a rogue app you've installed that requests the service, you can try texting "stop" or "stop all" to the number

This site gives advice

not truly a scam. usually companies like this are in the very small print of something else someone signs up for or competition they enter. it will say something like 'you agree to sign up to xxx service and agree to our monthly fee'.

the tip here is always read the small print whenever you give your mobile phone number on anything.

Hey AndyGa,

I am so sorry to learn that you have been charged £5.00 for a premium text. The information that @AlexKid provided is spot on, he’s even provided a link to have this refunded. I would follow his advice as it is the same as what we would have provided.

Let us know how you get on,

Take care,

Kelly

Hello All

thanks for your replies... for the record, I've not signed up to anything and I would read the small print.

I tried calling the number and get nowhere, I've just emailed the address supplied by AlexKid .. lets see where that gets me.

thanks

Andy
