Mobile Rescue has damaged my daughter's phone?

My daughter's phone became locked by Mobile Rescue the other day (Saturday evening). I spoke to someone on 789 who suggested I speak to the insurance team the next day. I did that and we had the phone unlocked pretty quickly.

However, my daughter then pointed out that the phone was saying 'No SIM'. I called 789 again who ran a diagnostic, then suggested they send a replacement SIM which arrived yesterday, but that if that didn't work they'd need the phone sent in for repair(!)

However, the phone is still not functioning other than on WiFi. It no longer says 'No SIM', but any attempt to make a call results in 'Not registered on network'. Searching for a Network Operator in Settings finds none at all.

Has that damn Mobile Rescue software really damaged the phone!?

Re: Mobile Rescue has damaged my daughter's phone?

Mobile rescue is discontinued. If anyone still has it installed, it should be removed.

Let us know if you've done this already and (if not) whether removal fixes the problem.

Yes, I uninstalled Mobile Rescue immediately after unlocking the phone with the insurance team on Sunday.

Re: Mobile Rescue has damaged my daughter's phone?

Hi jpjeffery,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting. I'm really sorry to hear your Daughter's phone was showing a 'No SIM' error the other day because of the Mobile Rescue app.

If the team are saying a repair needs to be booked in then I'd suggest following that road to get this resolved. Have you called them back since posting?

Look forward to your response.

Thanks

Thanks, Rich. It's all working now. The replacement SIM just needed to be activated on the network.
