Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

It is 4p/min to any other EU country (including the UK)

Email uses data, so yes, that will use up some of the data pass.

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

Help me out here.  On the Virgin tariff page I see 4p/min to make a call in Europe.   However on the same page if I select Making International calls it is 90p/min for Europe.

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

The 4p per minute is the roaming charge for calls made in the EU to other phones in the EU

The 90p is for calling phones outside of the EU

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

Why does it say

 Region Cost
 The Republic of Ireland

 60p per minute

USA & Canada, Australia & New Zealand 90p per minute
Europe, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea & Taiwan 90p per minute
Rest of the world £1.50 per minute

"Europe",   Is that not confusing?   So they mean Anywhere in Europe except an EC country?

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

That's phoning from the UK.

Calls when roaming outside of your own country come under EU regulations and are different.

Yes, I know, it's cheaper to phone say Germany from France than from England!

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

35p / MB = £35/GB = £175 / 5GB. I have a MiFi device with a 3 simcard and it costs £10 / 5GB / month whilst in Europe and other countries. 5GB / month is OK for me on my laptop etc. Buy a local PAYG SIM for an old phone to call home. I am in EU about 5 months / year. Is there a better way to do it? I thought ALL roaming charges were to be eliminated this summer.

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

I was initially quite impressed by the drop in roaming costs. Now that I'm on holiday I've discovered that it's a moot point. Seven days in and roaming is not working. Given that Virgin don't seem to allow anyone to email them, I'm stuck. They'd presumably like me to take advantage of cheap roaming to call them but it's difficult when my entire family is now without telephone access. I'm disgusted. I'd rather pay more for a service that works.

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

Hi Suz163,

there is a known network issue with roaming at the moment:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-Mobile/Issues-with-Roaming-in-the-EU/td-p/3168027

They are working to fix it, periodically switch your phone or flight mode off/on again in order for it to search and hopefully locate an available partner network.

Re: Lower EU Data Roaming prices

All four of us have been busy toggling flight mode & switching the phone on/off since yesterday. It hasn't made the slightest difference. I think I've now learnt that it's not advisable to be reliant on just one network when travelling abroad.
