Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Hi.
I have a g3 on contract & I'd like to know two things:
1. Is the firmware a custom virgin firmware, or is it stock?
2. The g3 is about to be updated to marshmallow by lg. Will this be pushed through by virgin, or will i have to wait months for the upgrade?

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Hi Jurasik

To answer the points you made

All handset would come with standard stock firmware and NO custom firmware is on handsets. Its the manufacturers firmware that's applied..

As for the marshmallow update , we would let users know when the update is available, I don't think its being released until march ( I think I read)

You can always check in the settings for any firmware updates and can update once its available

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

So i don't get it when it's released, only when VM think it's ready?

You should be able to check if you have stock firmware version on the LG site, if it's stock - the update will come from LG and not Virgin.

Having a quick Google, I see Marshmallow is not available here yet for the G3, out in Poland only.

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

It would appear to be stock.

I think it is imminent though.

I'll post up when it arrives.

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Over five weeks have passed & still no update. Does anyone at VM have any updates on this?

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Hi Jurasik,

Thanks for keeping me updated. Sorry to hear there has still been no update for you.

I've had a look at this thread here and it appears some have received the update. The last reply from Mat suggests it has been staggered to avoid server overloads.

Anyway, I've queried your model of handset with the software team but I don't think I'll get a reply until after the weekend now. When I get this I'll be sure to update you just like before.

Please await my response.

Thanks

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Rich, that thread is about the G4. An entirely different phone.

I have just checked the update on my G3 & still no update. In late February.

Can you tell me if you have had any response?

Re: Lg g3 marshmallow update.

Hi Jurasik,

Yes I am aware it's a different handset but it's the same manufacturer and in the 'G' series so I would assume they'd have rolled out the update at the same time but I could be wrong.

I've had a reply from our software team who have said they're going to bring it to LG's attention to see what they say.

At this stage I don't have any further information to provide.

Thanks
