Re: I want to set up my ntlworld.com email account on my Motorola G phone

Hi sb123,

We'll get this all sorted for you Smiley Happy

You can find all of the ntlworld settings here.

Using Pop3 will be absolutely fine to get this up and running.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Just use the standard mail app on the Moto G, use the pop3 settings Mat has linked to and make sure you set the "delete from server" setting as "never".

Thank you I have given this a go and it keeps saying validating server settings and then nothing happens, there must be something I am not clicking somewhere.

Re: I want to set up my ntlworld.com email account on my Motorola G phone

Hi sb123

Sorry to hear you're still having trouble with this.

Have you been able to successfully configure the email on any other device, such as on Outlook or Windows Mail on a PC or another handset? The only reason I ask this is it helps us to narrow down where the problem may be. If the email sets up on another device okay, we know everything is working correctly on the server and the settings you're entering our correct.

Can I just check if you're able to log in to the Webmail okay?

Also, can I check if the handset you're using was purchased from Virgin Mobile or another provider?

Many thanks

These are the settings I use for standard installed email app.

Incoming settings:

server - pop.ntlworld.com
port - 110
security - none
delete from server - never

Outgoing settings:
smtp - smtp.ntlworld.com
port - 465
Security - SSL/TLS
require sign in - tick
username - your.email@ntlworld.com
password - your password

Re: I want to set up my ntlworld.com email account on my Motorola G phone

While everyone here has been saying pop3 is fine, if you are collecting mail from one server using multiple devices then you can't beat IMAP.

Google/VM use a non standard pop3 implementation requiring you to to prefix the pop3 username with recent. If you are collecting mail using more than one device.

Using IMAP lets you see all the folders on the server whereas pop3only downloads from the inbox.

I also disagree with using port 110 no security For the simple reason that mail usernames and passwords are sent unencrypted, so the recommended settings are port 995 SSL/TLS for pop3.

these are my recommended settings.

Incoming Use IMAP

Server    - imap.ntlworld.com

Port        - 993

Security - SSL/TLS

User.       - Full NTL email address

Password - email password

Outgoing is as already suggested.

Thanks for the info on port 995, have changed to that and all working.
Bit reluctant to try IMAP yet, all working as I want with pop3 at present, as in- all emails come to phone and when I load Outlook on computer the emails on phone automatically move to the trash folder on the phone.
