Cannot get any service abroad although I contacted them before coming. Cannot make contact now. Any advise

when you say that you contacted VM before, was it to ensure that roaming was active?
You could check yourself by logging into your mobile account > "Plan and device" > "Manage your services"
Make sure that "Roaming" is ON and "International call barring" is OFF.
Have you tried manually selecting a network?
If you still have no luck you may be able to use the Contact Us - Web Chat but advisors are often busy.
Or if you can gain the use of another phone you could call the team for help.
