How do I set up Voice Message notification on my mobile?

I recently upgraded my mobile to a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. I have voicemail set up but I do not appear to get a notification to tell me when a new voice message has arrived. I've phoned the Helpdesk twice now and they seem unable to sort out this problem. It was all working fine on my old mobile.

I'm really sorry you're having some issues with Voicemail on the handset. I want to get this fixed for you. Are you able to dial 222 on the phone first of all and let me know what message plays?

Hi Mat,

When I dial 222 I get the following:

"To listen to your voice messages press 1, to change voice box features press 2, for help press 3".

It looks as if Voicemail is set up correctly on the the phone.

I also have this exact problem with the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, and has been failed to be resolved by two calls to the technical help line, who tried resetting my voicemail but I still don't get alerts. Please can someone help with this issue as it is affecting my business.

After my unsuccessful attempts at rectifying the problem through the Helpdesk, I went into my local Virgin Media store and a very helpful assistant tried to sort out the problem for me. After about 45 minutes on the phone to technical support she was told that the Voicemail problem is a known software issue that has affected a small batch of Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phones and that I would have to wait until a software update is issued. They would not say how long it will be until the update is issued. I tried asking for a replacement phone but they said as I had had my phone longer than 14 days they would not be able to replace it. I have thought about contacting Trading Standards as Virgin appear to have sold a phone that is not fit for purpose.

Spot on - you are entitled to a fault free replacement or money back - your choice. VM staff seem to suffer from 'confusion' when it comes to consumer law.
