Help?

my mum has took her Virgin contract mobile with her while on holiday in America.
she got her 1st flight but for some unknown reason missing her 2nd flight. so as far as we know shes now stranded in a New York airport.
so we need to know...
how do we phone her mobile from a UK landline? or UK mobile?
how do my relatives in America (Mississippi & Louisana) phone her mobile from a USA landline? or mobile?
what i mean is do we just use her usual mobile number? or do we need 2 add a country code on to her mobile number?

Re: Help?

Dial her number as if she was in the UK. Its a UK number so doesnt require any prefix to dial from here. If someone in another country wants to ring her, tell them to treat it as if they are dialing a normal UK number (0044 prefix).

Re: Help?

so if we call her we stay with the 07......
but while shes in America anyone calling her from an American landline/mobile should use 004407....
right?

Re: Help?

No, it's not right.

The 0044 bit replaces the leading zero on her mobile number. So if her UK number was 07123 456789 anyone in the US who wants to ring her should dial 0044 7123 456789

Re: Help?

...and that all assumes that she has roaming enabled on her account.

Re: Help?

I'm pretty sure things like Roaming & data were switched off before she went. So she wouldn't get extra charges.

Re: Help?

The bit about you dialing normally from the UK was right.. sorry I didnt notice you hadn't dropped the leading 0 when dialing a UK number from abroad.

Re: Help?

The only way you'll be able to contact her, then, is if she finds somewhere with free wifi and you can use internet-based communications such as facebook or skype.
