Excesssive mobile charges on contract

Contacted Virgin to query why I have been billed £2 per day for not actually using data/internet. Apparently they inform me that I have to untick the data enabled box every time I finish using the internet to avoid this charge.  I have NEVER had to do this before and have incurred excessive charges the last couple of months. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: Excesssive mobile charges on contract

Hi Netnet,

you don't say what the data allowance is on your tariff.

If you have exceeded it but continue to use mobile data. £2 per day is the correct charge.

Even if you don't use it per se but leave it enabled on your device (turned on). You will still receive charges as your phone's OS and apps connect automatically if allowed checking for updates and using small amounts of background data.

You have been told correctly. If you want to avoid charges once you have reached the limit of the mobile data allowed in your tariff (just before ideally). Uncheck the "data enable" box.
