Contract SIM not activated/working?

Hopefully someone can clear this up for me,

I went into the Virgin store and got and Iphone 6S on contract,

I've activated it by making an account with Virgin and it's showing my device and my tariff etc.

I got the phone yesterday (Early afternoon), do I need to wait a certain amount of time and is it working days I need to wait etc?

Any information on this would be great.

If you have a new sim card with the handset then you may need to activate this

you can try to activate this by trying the following

from the OLD PHONE AND SIM

text " READY" ( Without speech marks )
to

789678

alternatively you can call Virgin to activate the sim for you
