Charged for 'Premium Texts'

On my last bill I have been charged 15p a time for 5 'premium texts' to the same number over a 2 week period.

It is a normal mobile number, one I have used before, and they were just normal text messages.

I have done a bit of Googling and found out that it might be because the number begins with '+44', but this cannot be the case, as ALL the numbers stored on my phone begin thus.

Does anyone know what is going on? Can I get the money back?

Re: Charged for 'Premium Texts'

Hi Servalan,

without knowing the number I can't say but it might be a new number which hasn't yet been mapped onto the Virgin system.

In which case yes, you can get your money back but you will have to give the team a call on 789.

Re: Charged for 'Premium Texts'

I've had the same problem for several months to one number. Changing from +44 to 07 doesn't always work. Virgin tell me it's a system error and nothing to do with the customer. It's a Virgin EE network blip and they're working on it!!!
As long as you ring 789 when you get your bill and before the money is taken out of your account a full refund of the charges should be given!
Good luck

I rang 789 and the charges were credited back to my account.

Great service!

Re: Charged for 'Premium Texts'

Why does my new sim still NOT text my partner
I can ring him but this is not always convenient!
I have been told my partners phone is not yet recognised on the network!! And iv gotta wait til it does!!
That just doesn't make sense. It's very frustrating, still no answers and solutions!

Re: Charged for 'Premium Texts'

Sorry to hear this TJ27 Smiley Sad

Has your partners phone recently ported to another network? Other than this, there shouldn't be any reason why you're getting this message.

Let me know when you can.

Thanks,
Mat

Re: Charged for 'Premium Texts'

Hi Matt
No he's always been on the same number same phone same network.
All of a sudden I can't text him but can ring him.
I get an sms error message saying to check it's a UK number beginning 07
This started as suddenly as the charges for premium texts as in the beginning, for ages, I had no problems texting and ringing him.
I got a new sim as I was told this will sort it
It hasn't
Now I'm told I've to wait til his number is registered to VM network !!!
Tracey

Let me know when you can.
