Cancel contract

Hi do I have to give notice to cancel a contract phone please

Hello. 

For any type of Contract, so Monthly or Sim Only, a 30-day disconnection term would usually apply. This is notice that must be given to your provider to notify them you are leaving and is normally part of the terms of use for your contract. 

You can usually get around this by getting a PAC number (Port Authorisation Code), and giving that to your new provider as soon as you can. They normally do ports within 2 working days of you submitting the code, so this will usually enable you to leave quicker as the physical phone number will no longer be provisioned on their network. 

However, 

You should speak to Disconnections to be absolutely certain to avoid any bill shocks from any legislation hidden in their contract Terms and Conditions.
