Can't access Mobile Network

I have an Android phone: DOOGEE TURBO Mini F1. Can’t access the internet via Virgin Mobile Network even after trying a number of settings re Access Point Names. NB – It’s fine with my home Wi-Fi. Can anyone help?

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

It should look like this if its set up correctly:

From the home screen:

Tap the Menu button
Tap Settings
Tap Wireless and networks or More... (depending on your version of Android)
Tap Mobile Networks
Tap Access point names
Tap the Menu button
Tap New APN
Enter the following data into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings;
Name - Virgin Internet
APN - goto.virginmobile.uk
Username - user
MMSC - http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy - 193.30.166.2
MMS Port - 8080
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - If given a choice of options, select internet+mms, if the keyboard appears enter *
(As a check, the image below shows blue text in the fields you should have completed)
Tap the Menu button
Tap Save
Enable the newly-added APN by ensuring the line is ticked, or the radio button is lit by tapping on it
Check the notification bar for 4G, H, 3G, E or G with up and down arrows beside it, which will indicate your connection is working

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Hi Draina,

Welcome to our forum Smiley Happy

I'd love to help get this all sorted for you!

Can you let me know the full details of the APN you have in the phone so I can make sure that all is correct?

Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Hi Mat

Thanks for getting back to me.  My current settings are as follows:

Data connection: EE

Preferred network type: 4G

Preferred networks:     Orange(2G) Priority 0
                                                Orange F(2G) Priority 1
                                                31026(2G) Priority 2

Access Point Names: Original one was T-Mobile UK. Following research on Internet I created 2 new APNs: Virgin Media Mobile Internet (currently set) and Virgin Internet. I used settings I found on web.

The full details of VMMI are:
APN: goto.virginmobile.uk
APN type: default
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy: 193.30.166.2
MMS port: 8080
MCC : 234
MNC: 30
Authentication type: PAP
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4

Network Operators: Set for Choose automatically (when tapped, it shows: Registered on network)

Hope you can figure something out with this.

Regards

Alex

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Thanks for sending those over Draina Smiley Happy

One of the things we want to try is putting 'user' as the username.

Give this a go and let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Hi Mat

Tried setting Username to user but didn't make any difference.

Since you didn't mention any of the other settings I assume that they're ok so could there be something outside the settings that I haven't done correctly?

Regards

Alex

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Thanks for coming back to me Alex Smiley Happy

Sorry that this didn't make any difference. From what I can see, the settings are correct.

My best advice would be to visit our phone support page here and just double check the settings with a newer smartphone.

Give this a go and let me know how you get on with this. I'm here if you need me.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Hi Mat

I tried other settings: Virgin Enhanced.  Unfortunately, these didn't work either.  It's very annoying as I'd no problem with the wifi.  Having said that, my last phone was a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and I had the same sort of problems, hence my wondering if there was some other setting that I was just missing.  Anything else you can think of, please let me know.

Regards

Alex

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Thanks for coming back to me Alex Smiley Happy

I'm afraid other than providing the settings, there's not much that I can do as the phone is unsupported by us.

I would check to make sure that mobile data is definitely turned on in the phones settings.

My only other advice would be to delete both the APN's and try to re-add them.

I'm sorry I couldn't help more on this.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Can't access Mobile Network

Hi Mat

I deleted all settings then re-input them.  Unfortunately, no go.  Strange as I have no problem with wi-fi but can't be helped.  Many thanks for trying.

Alex
