Can I use a new phone on old contract?

I'm getting a new phone in a couple of days, but the new contract doesn't actually start until next month. If I transferred my SIM card details over to the new SIM, would I be able to use the new phone with my old contract? If so, will it switch to the new contract when it expires?

Re: Can I use a new phone on old contract?

Hi JMG787,

"If I transfer the data onto the new sim card"  do you mean your contacts list?

Is your new SIM activated? Is this a new contract with new number?

In the case of an upgrade (keeping the same number, simply changing SIM to suit the phone) you will need to text the word: READY from your old phone / SIM to 789678

You should then receive a text back saying your request has been successful.

Your old SIM will cut off from the network and your new SIM shortly after become active with your same number and remaining balance.

Have you done this or is this a new contract with new number and active SIM?

You can use your new phone immediately. The 24-month minimum term starts when your old contact ends.

Yes, but would I be able to use the old contract on the new phone or would I have to wait for the new one?

My new sim card is a different size. If I transfer the data onto the new sim card, would it still work?

This is the first time I've ever switched contracts, sorry if I sound like an idiot.

Re: Can I use a new phone on old contract?

It's a new contract with the same number. So I just need to activate the new SIM and the old contract will continue until it expires?
