Buying a gold mobile number

Hi, I called customer service and asked if I could buy a gold mobile number for my contract but they said the numbers are randomly selected and they have no control! They must have gold numbers to sell? Does anyone know who I contact to buy one? Thanks folks.

Re: Buying a gold mobile number

Firstly, the number you are given is leased. You never own it.

Secondly, Gold or Elite numbers are provided by specialist companies, not normal telco providers (who can only provide you with a recycled number from their existing "pool" of OFCOM allocated numbers).

You lease a number from one of the specialist companies, & then port it to whichever provider you want to use.

The link given below is an example, but there are others:

Re: Buying a gold mobile number

didn't know you could do this. although, fifteen hundred quid for a number that ends in 888888 may be worth the investment. it took me five years to remember my current number.
