Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

Hi everyone ...

I'm looking for some help to leave O2 and there shocking service.

I'm in quite an isolated area and signals are poor for all mobile operators ....

I have a useable O2 signal but for data etc its utterly useless at home and at work.

I tried a Virgin free sim to see what there signal is like and if anything at home its worse than O2 but a million times better at work.

So ..... can I purchase a Femtocell such as EE's signal box or the Nokia Siemens 3G mobile signal booster - FAPr-hsp 5000 which is the same thing and more importantly get them to work or be activated .

I hear EE are extremely awkwards at activating the box and since ill be with virgin they probably wouldn't activate it even though its there signal we use.

Im desparate to get away from O2 .

In short will one of these boxes work and how to get them activated ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

Virgin don't use signal boosters.

Getting a hold of an orange / ee wouldn't work as virgin would have to activate your phone number.

Hi Bubbleheed,

Thank you for your post and sorry that this post was missed and for the late reply.  Unfortunately we do not provide signal boosters. You can check the signal in your area, by clicking this link.

Let us know how you get on Smiley Happy

Re: Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

Oh my goodness this is more difficult than I thought it was going to be .....

I know Virgin  DON'T  supply signal boosters ....

My signal is good outdoors but absolutely rubbish indoors hence why im asking about the indoor signal boosters ...... ( Femtocell ) as they are known.

I said...... if I was to by one of the EE signal boosters would it work with Virgin as they use EE's signal .

IE....... if I was to get my hands on an EE Signal Box would it work with Virgin Mobile ...... and if it would who do I phone to have the Signal Box Activated for my number  ???

EE probably wouldn't activate the box because im not technically with there network although EE and Virgin use the same signal.

Re: Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

If you read what I said you would not need to keep posting the same question.

You are wasting your time. Virgin would not be able to activate it as they have no facility in place.

for the avoidance of any doubt, no it would not work.

Re: Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

Hi Bubblehead,

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately EE signal boosters would not work with Virgins Mobiles and unfortunately we do not support it and would not be able to activate it.

Hope this helps Smiley Happy

Re: Better indoor signal ..... Femtocell ?

Hi,

Doubt the EE ones will work

You ideally need something like this:

http://cellantenna.co.uk/index.php?id=ez

If you look on that website you'll see a load of signal boosters, which should work on the Virgin network - so long as you select one for 2100MHz (3G).

Hope that helps!
