789 top up from abroad

Website says 789 for recorded messages from abroad is free, but to speak to someone £2.

I want to top up using previously registered card so wouldn't need to talk to anyone.

Would that be free?

Re: 789 top up from abroad

Hi jantoby,

from the Virgin website: Using your mobile phone abroad

By text – send the amount (£5-£50 in multiples of £5), the last 6 digits of your card and the last 3 digits of the security number (or 4 for American Express) on the back to 789 222
By phone – call 789 and have your card handy.

Either way, it’s free.

Checking your balance
If you Pay As You Go, simply text ‘balance’ to 789 000.

Re: 789 top up from abroad

Thanks Alex.  I've tried to register but they've sent a code to my phone that I have to enter and it contains symbols that aren't on my computer keyboard.
