What number did you dial? Calls to 789 are free to call.

That's not a Virgin Media number. Unfortunately you've been subject to a call scam.

This is where someone completely unconnected to Virgin Media will hijack search results for a company helpline, and when you dial the number forward on the call to the normal Customer Services line. Virgin Media have no idea it's being done, and you get overcharged.

Re: £18 call charge to virgin helpline to sort out a £15 bill refund

I would think they do what they can. However there is no connection between the companies that run the number (who themselves may be a legitimate number reseller) and the people behind the scam, it's not a simple thing.

Plus unfortunately it would probably be a bit of a game of 'whack a mole', as soon as Virgin Media could manage to close one number, another will pop up in it's place.

All the contact numbers for Virgin Media are at www.virginmedia.com/contact
