tivo box swap - recorded item

I have several TV series and movies recorded on my current box. What happens when I do the 'box swap'? Do they move to the new box?

Re: tivo box swap - recorded item

Afraid not.

They're gone for good, and there is no option of backing the shows up either. Virgin won't even assist with lost recordings.

Your best bet is to check catch up on demand and see if the shows you lost are there.

Re: tivo box swap - recorded item

Like it or not, the provision of a PVR (I read from VM Terms & Conditions) is for timeshifting purposes only. In practice most providers turn a blind eye to customers sitting on recordings, but the rights holders that own the programmes would certainly not take kindly to "illegal" copies being transferred between boxes. You can hook a DVD or VCR to your box & copy (at reduced quality) via the Scart socket, but that's about it.
