Having had my tivo box replaced due to it being noisy the new one emits the same rumbling noise.
It happens all the time, when on recording and standby. I have tried everything, from pads to carpet.
Is this sound normal?
Certainly mine has never made a noise. Is it overheating? They do get quite sensitive to being too hot. You may of course have just had two boxes from a batch that are noisy. No way of knowing.
If you can stand it get it replaced again.
Thanks for your reply. The noise started almost immediately so it is not over heating. It is good to now that they can be silent.
Probably a daft question.What is a moderator?

I'm sorry to hear that you're box is a little on the noisy side. I'll be happy to help check this out for you.
To en extent the boxes do make a certain level of buzzing sound when in operation. I can see you have tried to use cushions under the box which is great.
Can you please advise if you hear the sound above normal viewing volume? Would you say it is disrupting your programme viewing?

Thanks Collette, The engineer called and replaced the box. No sound at all now. He did say that some of the Tivo boxes are quieter than others. Problem solved.
Hi and thanks for the update kb4
